Congregational Care – Week of 7/17/2022

Dear All Souls,

How goes life, now that we are all the way mid-July? I’m hoping there has been some rest, ease, and play. Even in very small doses, and with staycation plans, summer fun can be infused in daily living. You might start now, if you forgot to add that in.

July is a quieter program month at All Souls, so that all staff and congregants can enjoy some R & R. You are invited to Sunday 10:30 services: live at other beautiful UU congregational sites, online from wherever, or in the friendly small group James Reeb Lobby watch parties. Needed AV work will be going on in the Sanctuary throughout the month of July. There is still childcare, and a Summer of Spiritual Practices for Religious Education each Sunday.

I am here through July 22, contact me at CongCare@allsouls.ws per usual. I will be away from July 23 to August 5 on a group pilgrimage to Iona, with some additional travel in Scotland. During that time, please contact Rev. Rob Keithan or Traci Hughes-Trotter for Congregational Care issues, at the address above, or by cell phones.

Summer Blessings,

Rev. Louise

Congregational Care List

We wish Kathie Baker well, soon in the process of moving to Oregon with her sister Janie. Much thanks to her wonderful covenant group, who have been providing care and support to Kathie for many months. A beautiful example of All Souls caring community in action.

We send healing and heart to a good friend of Judy Leaver, currently in the extensive process of a stem cell transplant. Judy will be staying in Naples, FL in their home, while the couple travels for medical treatment.

Please send cards for Gordon Kent to All Souls, c/o Louise. They will be delivered to him to be read aloud. Gordon is recently cleared for more comprehensive rehab. Yet he remains in a bureaucratic tangle with Wash Hospital Center, insurance procedures, and the National Rehab Hospital. Send prayers for that clearing soon, as we work family on advocacy avenues

Our blessings to Jane Simpson, who has been in GW Hospital for issues related to heart condition, stability and a recent fall. She is communicating with family and friends, and awaiting comprehensive diagnosis with recommendations for next steps.

The Celebration of Life for Adenia Taylor has been set for Friday, October 7, at 1 pm in the Sanctuary. Adenia died in her sleep at age 95 last month, a member of All Souls for 40 years. More details to come in the fall, when Rev. Bill Sinkford will officiate.

We send our love to ASC member Janet Randolph and family, who held a Celebration of Life in Atlanta for her spouse, Herb Lowrey. Chuck Wooldridge, and partner Chaplain Rohn Armstrong, planned the memorial event, held at Barcelona restaurant on July 12. Herb was an amazing creative soul! Read More Here
