Playback Theater: Theology as Autobiography
The Sanskrit word “Namaste” means “The Divine in Me sees, acknowledges, and submits to the Divine in You.” In Playback Theatre we practice showing and seeing the divine in each other through the stories we share. Participants will have opportunities to listen to each other’s stories and spontaneously perform those stories as short plays. Instead of thinking of this as performance, you might think of it as magnifying our shared humanity or as holding and caring for the stories of our communities. No acting experience is necessary (though it doesn’t hurt.) A willingness to listen and hear is necessary.
