The Weather Is Starting To Cool Down

…but we’re just warming up! And here we are at the end of September. Wait, what? When did that happen?? As usual, All Souls has hit the ground running this fall, and it’s been BEAUTIFUL!

What I have heard most often from the congregation is how happy they are having opportunities that allow them to connect with others, both spiritually and socially. I love having the chance to sit and chat with each of you – I always learn something, find a new facet about you to appreciate, or a new common ground I wasn’t aware of. This community of communities has become very special to me, and I love being a part of it – and giving you many ways to engage however you’re ready to.

Our Welcoming Wednesdays have begun, and it’s been wonderful for ME to see many of YOU connecting with others. It’s been lovely to see new faces getting one on one time with several of our longtime members, just talking and building relationships. If you’re interested in dropping in for a Welcoming Wednesday, check out the church website calendar – look for this character!

Next up for Welcoming Wednesday is September 27, 2023 at 7pm – Game Night!

Cards? Board games? Table tennis? Join us in the All Souls gym – come play games, laugh, talk, and get to know friendly faces with All Souls! Bring a game, a snack and come get let your friendly competitiveness out and play! This is a family friend event, and all ages are welcome! While I’m out of town this coming week, Lara Profitt, our Acting Director of Childrens and Youth Religious Education, will be hosting.

Then on October 4, 2023 from 7:00-9:00 pm, our Welcoming Wednesday will be Storytelling with ASC Peace Corps Volunteers!

The folx of All Souls have beautifully varied and wonderful stories to tell. For this Storytelling session, we are focusing on those who served in the Peace Corps! Come listen to the experiences they have to share, ask questions, and experience the collective wisdom and experience that service to others brings. We particularly invite graduating students and those who are interested in serving in the Peace Corps! Come ask questions of the dozen members of All Souls who served in Peace Corps will tell stories from Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, Costa Rica and nine African countries!

Normally, I try not to promote activities too far out, but this next one needs a little bit of commitment…

On October 25, 2023 our Welcoming Wednesday is Church o’ Treat, an All Souls twist on Trunk or Treat. Members and Congregants are invited to come create a family friendly spooky table in Pierce Hall to hand out treats for our youngest souls (– a play on trunk or treating). There will be games, snacks, and everyone is encouraged to come in a costume!

If you would like to host a spooky spot, I do need you to register so we can track how many people are willing to host. If we get enough people to sign up to host a spooky spot, I would like to invite the families of our community partner organizations to bring their children as well.

Families, please bring your children to trick or treat at All Souls – you do not need to register for your children to participate.

Thank you for reading this far… Here’s a few other things I would like you to have on your calendars:

I would like to invite folx to our next About All Souls session, which is this coming Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 12:00 pm. This is a hybrid meeting, so we will be meeting in person in the Longfellow Room and there’s a Zoom link for those who wish to join in virtually. This is an introduction to our Membership Class, during which attendees will learn about the church, our mission and goals, the basics around how we operate, our church covenant, and more. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about All Souls.

Ready to Join the church? Our next New Member Class, two-part session (at the end of which attendees will sign the book and formally declare their membership to the church) will be on October 11 (7:00pm on Zoom) and October 15 (in person after service).

Last but not least, I would like to invite everyone to the upcoming Find Your Ministry Fair on October 1, 2023 after service!

You’ll have the opportunity to speak with lay leaders, board members, and committee members about the various ministries and opportunities around the church across all program areas!

Lay leader, be sure to organize your table and let us know who will be there in person on Sunday morning! If you need copies made, please email them to Joanne, our Office Manager for printing by Friday, September 29!

If you’re joining us virtually, visit our virtual Find Your Ministry Fair page to view videos from these ministries and sign up to be contacted.

If you have any questions about these events or Membership, please let me know. Thank you for being present, All Souls, I can’t wait to see you!
