Reeb to screen film on the history of DC voting rights by All Souls member Anna Reid Jhirad; and is gearing-up a robust Postcard Campaign for this fall’s critical elections in Virginia.
Reeb kicks-off a busy season of voting rights action with the screening of “The Last Battlefront” – a one-hour historical, documentary film on the fight for self-government in Washington, D.C. – by All Souls congregant and filmmaker Anna Reid Jhirad.
After the film, there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker and a panel of DC voting rights activists.
As Anna says, DC’s history is a cautionary tale about how voting rights can be won and lost – here, and around the country – and these rights are only won by citizen action.
Save the date for the film – Monday evening, Oct. 2nd, 7pm. There will be plenty of snacks.
This fall, all eyes will be on Virginia! Reeb is gearing up a robust Postcard Campaign to help get out the vote (GOTV) for the critical 2023 Virginia elections.
On Nov 5th, the entire House of Delegates and Senate in Virginia will be on the ballot. Critical issues are likely to be: gun safety, LGBTQ rights, reproductive freedom, climate change mitigation, and voting rights.
Plan to pick up postcards at the church in September and October, beginning on Homecoming Sunday – Sept. 10th. Postcards also will be available during the Oct. 2nd screening of “The Last Battlefront.”
