Join us to celebrate Passover with a seder potluck meal!
While the All Souls celebration starts with the biblical story of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, it is inclusive. We draw parallels between the Jewish exodus, slavery in the United States, and the struggles of many others in modern times to rid themselves of more recent slavery, prejudice and discrimination based on such factors as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and physical attributes. We even sometimes are the victims of our own (self) oppression due to the fears we all have. This is an important celebration of the concept of freedom from oppression.
The ancient story still applies to all of us in various ways. Our children will demonstrate such events as crossing the Red Sea and the numerous plagues God visited on the earth. The story gives students the message of hope, that while we may need to wander for “years in the desert,” freedom from oppression is achievable.
The Seder is an important spiritual event, and a fun event, both for the adults and the children of the congregation. Participants meet warm, friendly All Souls folks and enjoy conversation, good food, stories, and singing. Plenty of camaraderie ending with a delicious potluck dinner!
