Migrant Accompaniment Training

Learn how to provide both practical and emotional support during ICE/ISAP check-ins and court hearings. By volunteering to accompany migrants, you are showing solidarity and helping to ease the anxiety of interacting with the immigration system, reducing the likelihood of detention with your presence, and – if the person with you is detained – keeping relatives, supporting organizations, and/or lawyers informed.

This training includes a faith grounding as well as training to participate in the DMV Accompaniment Network (DAN).

You must be trained to do accompaniment to volunteer with DAN

DAN connects volunteers and other allies with members of our communities who have to report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), check in at Intensive Surveillance Appearance Program (ISAP), appear in immigration court, or who request accompaniment for other civil or criminal encounters.

This training is sponsored by the All Souls Migrant Solidarity Team in partnership with the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network. Please note that involvement in a faith community is not a requirement of the training.

Language skills other than English (especially Spanish), and access to a car, are highly useful but by no means necessary.
