On March 23 after service in Reeb Hall, Silver Souls invites you to celebrate the legacies of Rev. James Reeb and David Bauer, who served in ways we don’t want to forget. Rev. Reeb answered the call of Dr. King to defend voting rights in Selma, Alabama, where he was murdered, galvanizing the nation and inspiring the 1965 Civil Rights Act. His sacrifice inspired All Souls minister Rev. Duncan Howlett to write No Greater Love: The James Reeb Story.
David Bauer is remembered by many church many of us as the great human he was, but Silver Souls invites you to honor his commitment and advocacy for accessible features in our building. His efforts led to our building’s paved and stepless pathway to the entrance off the patio, and the addition of the Bauer elevator that provides access to all three floors of the church.
Please come to take in the story, told in slides by the Reeb Voting Rights Project, of James Reeb’s life and death and how it inspires their work, and join David Bauer’s wife Judith to learn more about David Bauer’s story, his special character, intellect, and advocacy.
