All Souls Welcomes a New Afghan Family

A year ago, generous members of this congregation reached into their wallets, attics, and garages to help the family of Mohammad Monir Karimi settle into an apartment in Falls Church, VA. Gifts, which were gratefully received, included cash, furniture, a variety of household goods, computers, iPad, iPhone, and an old but well-maintained Honda Accord. The Karimis are doing well; Monir is working, his wife is learning English, and their oldest child is about to start kindergarten. Recently, All Souls’ Migrant Solidarity Team (MST) welcomed the family of Monir’s brother, Mohammad Mukhtar Karimi, who had spent two years in Islamabad, Pakistan waiting for their U.S. visas. Like Monir, Mukhtar had worked for a contractor supporting the U.S. military in Afghanistan. His family of five will soon move into their own apartment and need just about everything we gave Monir’s family.

If you can donate any of the items mentioned above, or cash, please contact Jan Smart (smartjuanita@icloud.com). Photos of furniture would help.
