We all recognize that for our community and in support of our mission, we need a congregation that is healthy, vibrant, and sustainable. Last year, in response to All Souls drawing on 15% of its endowment to support our operations in our current fiscal year, the congregation voted to recommend – and the Board established – the Living Well Within Our Means (LWWOM) Committee. The LWWOM committee has now delivered a written report that includes a number of recommendations for changes to staffing structure, contracts and operational expenses, and a proposal to shift toward a stronger shared ministry model in some key areas.

The Board and LWWOM are planning for multiple in-person and online conversations with the congregational community about the report, the recommendations, and the proposed implementation over the coming year including through next year’s budget.

Second, you can participate in an engagement session. We have already scheduled the following opportunities for listening and conversation with LWWOM and board members. Refer to the FAQ for full schedule and updates)
Third, you can participate in the Board’s regular annual budget process:
- Observing the April 23 and May 14 Board meetings
- Attending the May 5 Budget Hearing at 7 pm.
We know that this period of transition will be challenging, and we are heartbroken at having to say goodbye to staff members who have given so much to our community. Yet we believe that it is a choice we have to make for the long term financial health of All Souls. We hope you will help us work together towards that goal.
