Support for Migrants Under Threat

  • Post category:News

With mass deportations becoming ever more likely, All Souls’ Migrant Solidarity Team (MST) plans to join with religious and other nonprofit groups in the Washington D.C. region in mobilizing support for our undocumented neighbors.

For the past several years, MST’s Immigrant and Refugee Assistance Fund has provided small grants to recent immigrants facing severe hardship because of medical emergencies, sudden job loss, or other crises.

The threat to immigrants is now more urgent, with the incoming administration promising to deport millions of people and feeling confident of voters’ backing.

Stay tuned to the Social Justice web page for further word on plans by MST, working with such partners as the Congregation Action Network, Asylum Works, Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid, and the DefendDC coalition.

The all-volunteer Food Justice DMV, co-founded by All Souls and MST member Denise Woods, regularly delivers vegetables, fruit, rice, and beans to thousands of migrant families across the region. The group anticipates greater need in the months to come if families are afraid to leave their homes to buy necessities.
