Hello All Souls!
Starting this fall, Membership is sponsoring a new weekly drop in series of events. They will be held each Wednesday (except on Vespers nights – Vespers is and always will be on second Wednesdays) and will be hybrid whenever possible. Welcoming Wednesdays are fun and easy ways to get to know others at All Souls Church!
It will be an activity we can do together, to build community, foster new relationships and nurture existing ones, and maybe learn a bit about one another and developing new skills or hobbies. Intergenerational, in person and online when possible, and at no cost (unless otherwise indicated). Bring your authentic Self, make some new friends and connections within the All Souls congregation, and solidify your connection with All Souls.
Our first Welcoming Wednesday will be our Homecoming Happiness Hour on September 6, 2023 from 7:00-9:00 pm on the Terrace. Join us on the church terrace for a happy hour to welcome our incoming staff and celebrate the beginning of the new church year! There will be mocktails and beverages for all to enjoy.
Many of this fall’s Welcoming Wednesday offerings are already listed on the website calendar, just look for the Welcoming Wednesday banner (also on this page!). Last month, I sent out a one question survey asking what people would be interested in participating in; these first several offerings were the overwhelming majority. For those who wrote in answers, fear not! I’ll be incorporating several of your suggestions throughout the church year or directing them to the Adult Spiritual Development committee to look into. If you have ideas for future Wednesday evening events, please send them my way (REaton@allsouls.ws)!
You can also visit our newly developed Membership Page on the website to see all of the scheduled Welcoming Wednesday events, learn about other community and relationship building activities available at the church, and to learn more about becoming a Member if you haven’t already done so. Later this year, there will be additional resources for current and new members and other useful information.
For those of you who would like to attend in person, but traveling at night is a concern, please email me (REaton@allsouls.ws) and we’ll see if we can connect you with other attendees to facilitate transportation. If you are someone who would be able to provide rides for others who live near you, please reach out as well, and we’ll connect you! We will also do our best to offer meaningful hybrid options whenever possible – and as this is a new effort, please bear with us as we get underway!
I’m excited to see the multiple ways we can come together as a community, All Souls, and I hope you’ll join me for as many Welcoming Wednesdays as you’re able to attend!
