The Role of the Arts in Nuclear Weapons Abolition: Toward A New Literacy for Peace Education

In a panel discussion with subject matter experts, our audience will navigate the logic and language for expanded civil society activism in the cause of Nuclear Weapons Abolition. Centering the practice of visual art as the point of departure for discussion with our global human family across the ethno-cultural spectrum, we will make linkages to foundational elements of the United Nations’ humanitarian ambitions: Peace Education, the Sustainable Development Goals, climate dynamics, poverty, sublimation of aspiration, human rights, and inappropriate governance. We will be guided to embrace the moral, intellectual and emotional argument for nuclear weapons abolition.
