Thanksgiving Collection & Bag Filling
Our Thanksgiving Collection & Bag Filling returns in-person this year! Join us after service on Sunday, November 20th in Pierce Hall to fill bags of groceries that will be distributed to several of our neighborhood partners.
Our goal is 400 bags, but that number depends entirely on how many donated items we receive! You are highly encouraged to shop early, so we can better estimate how many bags we will be able to put together.
We are changing what we collect this year, to be more mindful of the needs of the people we serve, rather than provide items that may continue to stereotype what ‘traditional’ Thanksgiving looks like.
This suggested shopping list is for one full bag
For those who want to participate, you have several options!
1. Purchase items from this Food Collection Amazon Wishlist! Please be sure items arrive no later than November 17th. Note: The items on this wishlist are cases/multiples.
2. You may also purchase the items on the shopping list and bring them to church beginning November 7th during business hours. Or purchase on any platform/website and have them shipped to All Souls Church Unitarian Food Drive 1500 Harvard St NW Washington, DC 20009.
Perishable items may ONLY be brought to the church on November 20th.
3. You may donate the estimated cost of a full bag ($30), or multiple bags ($60, $90, $120, $150, etc.). In the Memo line, type 2022 Food Collection.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to come to Pierce Hall after service on November 20, 2022 to organize donated items into full bags! Sign up here for a shift!
