Part-time (15 hours/week) Salaried Position
Minister of Adult Spiritual Development
All Souls Church Unitarian (DC) seeks an ordained minister or minister-in-formation to oversee our Adult Spiritual Development Program. This contract position is approximately 15 hours per week and would entail oversight of the Adult Spiritual Development program, as well as opportunities to preach and lead worship and provide pastoral support to our members. Adult Spiritual Development (ASD) Leadership
Serve as the primary staff support for All Souls’ ASD ministry, which includes:
- advancing a holistic approach to spiritual development and adult education that enhances the ministries of justice work, pastoral care, fellowship, worship, and the art
- responding to significant life passages, equipping for beloved community, and forming and transforming Unitarian Universalist identity;
Develop and oversee the curriculum for Adult Spiritual Development (ASD) working with the ASD committee.
Recruit and support teachers and class facilitators in developing high quality Adult Spiritual Development opportunities and incorporate teaching by other members of the ministerial team and professional staff.
Support education and training for lay leadership development.
Offer at least one multi-session adult religious education course per quarter and other classes/workshops as capacity and interest allows.
In consultation with the interim senior minister and director of music and arts, explore other possibilities for arts-based education. ASD and worship uses monthly themes as touchstones for theological, spiritual, and small-group development.
On a schedule determined in collaboration with the interim senior minister and other worship leaders, preach at least once per quarter, serve as liturgist one or two times a month, and serve as minister of Vespers service at least once per quarter.
Attend worship planning meetings and/or worship rehearsals.
Participate in efforts to strengthen the church and its witness as a counter-oppressive, anti-racist, multi-cultural congregation (in accordance with the 8th Principle)
Other duties as assigned by the interim senior minister
Evaluation, Collaboration, and Accountability
Reports to the interim senior minister.
Work collaboratively with other members of the ministerial and professional team, attending weekly staff and clergy meetings.
Meet no less than monthly with the interim senior minister to seek guidance and maintain accountability to the focus, purpose, priorities, and implementation of this contract.
Time and Compensation
This position involves an average time commitment of 15 hours per week.
The position will be reviewed prior to the end of the 2020-2021 fiscal year, and may be renewed annual upon mutual agreement.
Salary of $20,796 (based on .25 FTE for five months) which is paid biweekly. The church does not offer any benefits for this ¼ time position.
